With only the dim beams from your flashlights illuminating the trail ahead, the hike starts in an eerie silence. Although the first part of the journey is quite straightforward, as you move forward and cross the halfway mark, you’ll come across treacherous terrain that will require steadfast resolve to overcome.
When you do, however, eventually reach the summit, all of your hard work has paid off. Here, the sky changes dramatically, going from a pitch-black to progressively changing tones of pink and orange. It’s a time that really highlights how far you’ve come in the last two hours.
The three greatest spots on Mount Batur to witness dawn are Puncak Jero Salin, the southeast summit, Puncak Jero Wage, the north summit, and Puncak Kaja Kauh, the northwest summit. Puncak Kaja Kauh is a somewhat secluded location because not many people are aware of it.
